MANILA – Did you know that Arjo Atayde, known to many as the villain Joaquin in “Ang Probinsyano”, was supposed to be part of the recently concluded series “On the Wings of Love”?

Atayde has already done the look test for the role of Jigs, the ex-boyfriend of lead female character Leah (Nadine Lustre).

The actor, however, was suddenly pulled out from the show.

“We had already done the photo shoot for it, and they texted me to say that I was being pulled out. I was alarmed, because they did not tell me why,” he recalled in an interview in the March issue of StarStudio Magazine.

Atayde found out later on that he was included in another ABS-CBN primetime series – “Ang Probinsyano” starring Coco Martin.

He said Martin was instrumental in helping his career grow. “Out of the blue, at an ABS-CBN event in 2012 for 'Dugong Buhay,' he (Martin) came up to me with his bodyguards and all, and said, ‘Ang galing mo, bro. Sana magkatrabaho tayo.’”

“Ang Probinsyano” served as the fulfillment of Martin’s “promise” that they will soon get to work together.

Quoting Martin, Atayde said: “O, eto na ang promise ko sa iyo.”

The role of Jigs in “OTWOL” was eventually given to actor Albie Casiño. And similar to “Ang Probinsyano,” “OTWOL” soared in ratings until it concluded last February 26.
