Pop quiz: What do you do as a follow-up to "Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse" - the Sony Pictures Animation phenomenon that won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature?
You follow it up with "Connected" - a movie about an ordinary family bringing their teenage daughter to college, only to be caught up in an AI apocalypse.
Directed by Mike Rianda ("Gravity Falls"), "Connected" tells the story of nature-loving dad Rick Mitchell (Danny McBride) who has to take a road trip with his entire family to bring his daughter Katie (Abbi Jacobson) to college.
Katie and Rick are joined by the rest of the family, including Katie’s wildly positive mom Linda (Rudolph), her quirky little brother Aaron (voiced by Mike Rianda), and the family’s delightfully chubby pug Monchi for the ultimate family road trip.
Their road trip is interrupted, however, by a tech uprising as electronic devices all over the world - from phones, to appliances, to an innovative new line of personal robots – decide it’s time to take over the world.
Connected is produced by "Spider-verse" creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and Kurt Albrecht; the executive producers are Will Allegra, Louis Koo.
