MANILA – Regal Films released on Monday the full trailer of “The Missing,” which is its entry to the first-ever Metro Manila Summer Film Festival.
Directed by Easy Ferrer, the horror movie stars Ritz Azul, Joseph Marco and Miles Ocampo.
Based on its official synopsis, “The Missing” follows the story of Iris (Azul), a 28-year-old architect, who lost her younger sister to a kidnapping syndicat and developed PTSD and hallucinations.
One day, her ex-boyfriend Job (Marco) called her for a restoration job for Riku Watanabe's century old house in Karatsu, Saga, Japan.
In Saga, Iris and Job met Watanabe’s six-year-old son Aki and Filipina intern student Len (Ocampo).
As soon as they started working, Iris began to experience hauntings in the house, particularly of angry-looking yureis (Japanese ghosts). Job dismissed it saying it might just be her hallucinations, resulting from her trauma.
Nonetheless, Iris still thinks there is something wrong with the house. Her suspicions grew when Fumio, one of the local workers, told her about hitobashira, or the act of human sacrifice.
Along with the seven other official Metro Manila Summer Film Festival entries, “The Missing” will be released in theaters nationwide beginning April 11.
Unlike the annual MFFF every December, the films will be shown in theaters nationwide for a shorter 11-day run.
