MANILA – It seems that Day6 has earned a new fan in Ogie Alcasid as the veteran singer-songwriter praised the South Korean rock band’s music on Twitter, following an interaction with vocalist Jae Park.
“Sobrang galing,” Alcasid said in a tweet on Monday, tagging the band’s Twitter account.
On Tuesday morning, Alcasid posted on Twitter the English version of the band’s 2017 hit “You Were Beautiful,” with the caption: “On repeat. #DAY6”
Alcasid’s praises for the 5-piece pop-rock band followed his interaction on Twitter with vocalist Jae after a netizen posted photos of them wearing the same outfit.
The netizen, with the username @CheonSongYEAH, posted photos of Jae and Alcasid clad in the same floral-printed jacket, which the Filipino music veteran wore on “ASAP” last Sunday.
“Who wore it better?” the netizen wrote in the post, which Alcasid reposted on his Twitter account with the caption, “@Jae_Day6 wins.”
Jae reposted Alcasid’s tweet on his account, putting only an emoji in the caption.
In another series of tweets, Alcasid and Jae thanked each other. It was not, however, explicitly stated why.
Fans of both Alcasid and the band were thrilled at the interaction.
Day6, managed by one of the leading K-pop companies, JYP Entertainment, last visited Manila in November for a concert.
Alcasid is no stranger to South Korean pop culture, even posting a photo last Feb. 17 of himself watching the hit drama “Crash Landing On You.” His daughter, Leila, counts herself as a fan of the boy band BTS.
