MANILA – The first big-screen team-up of Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga is on its way to breach the P400-million mark as it continues its nationwide run nationwide three weeks after it opened.
Gonzaga and Pascual announced on “ASAP” on Sunday that “Starting Over Again” has earned P360 million as of March 1.
Asked by fellow “ASAP” host Luis Manzano how it feels to star in a blockbuster movie, Gonzaga said: “Nakakatuwa kasi lahat sila lumaklak ng reyalidad at natanggap nila ang pelikula namin.”
Pascual, on the other hand, thanked all those who already saw the film and those who are still planning to watch “Starting Over Again.”
“In behalf of Star Cinema and, of course, ang aming napakagaling na direktor na si direk Olive Lamasan, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” he said.
Both stars also credited the production crew for the movie's success. “We really want to give credit to everyone behind the camera. Maraming maraming salamat po,” Gonzaga said.
"Starting Over Again" tells the story of college professor Marco (Pascual), whose girlfriend, Ginny (Gonzaga), left him without saying goodbye or giving an explanation.
Four years after the breakup, the two cross paths again at a time when Marco is already happy with a new partner, Patty (Iza Calzado).
Forced to work with Marco, who has also successfully pursued his passion to become a chef, Ginny starts to regret leaving him and tries to win him back.
The release of "Starting Over Again" is part of the continuing 20th anniversary celebration of Star Cinema.
