MANILA -- (UPDATE) The well-loved movie “Four Sisters and a Wedding” is having a prequel.

On Thursday, Star Cinema announced that the new movie will be titled “Four Sisters Before the Wedding.”

The prequel will be headlined by Alexa Ilacad as Bobbie, Gillian Vicencio as Alex, Charlie Dizon as Teddie, and Belle Mariano as Gabbie, while Giselle Andres will direct it.

The original movie released in 2013 was headlined by Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee.

In that film, sisters Teddie (Gonzaga), Bobbie (Alonzo), Alex (Locsin) and Gabbie (Magdayao) gather home for a "big event" -- their youngest sibling's (Dee) wedding.

However, the four sisters, left with a foul impression after meeting the bride's family, conspire to block the wedding.

As they scheme to "save" their only brother, the siblings are also forced to face problems in their family.

The prequel will be set 10 years before the beginning of the original movie and it will show how the relationship of the siblings came about.

“Itong movie, ipapakita kung paano naging ganun si Gabbie, the beginnings of the rift of Alex and Bobbie, tapos ito bang si Teddie ay ganun pa rin kapursige. Aside from that, makikilala din natin 'yung hindi napakitang dad nila before,” Andres said.

As they prepare for the movie, Ilacad, Vicencio, Dizon and Mariano said they are hoping to hear from the original cast members to ask them for tips.

“Actually idol ko po talaga si Miss Toni and Miss Bea so nakakakaba kung makikita ko po siya sa personal at matatanong ko kung ano ang dapat niya i-advise. Sana po magka-chance na makapagbigay siya ng tips kung paano ang essence ng character and kung ano ang mga nuances or ano yung mga dapat tandaan sa eksena,” said Dizon.

While she has already played a young Alonzo before, Ilacad said she remains just as nervous because she regards Alonzo as a really good actress.

Still written by Vanessa Veldez, this new movie will be produced by SCX, a sub-brand of Star Cinema.
