MANILA — Angel Locsin attested to the humility of ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak on Monday, as the Kapamilya executive earned praise on social media for his calm demeanor and clear answers during a Senate hearing on the network's franchise renewal.
Locsin, a Kapamilya star since 2007, shared on Instagram a photo of her with Katigbak, as well as ABS-CBN COO of Broadcast Cory Vidanes, who was also at the Senate.
"Appreciation post for ABS-CBN bosses!" Locsin captioned the photos. "Happy that Filipinos get to see how humble our ABS-CBN bosses are. Ganyan po talaga sila kahit off cam!"
As the Senate heard issues surrounding ABS-CBN's broadcast franchise, Katigbak became a trending topic on Twitter, with viewers commending his humility, calm, and clarity in answering questions from lawmakers through the six-hour session.
Locsin, 34, has been an outspoken supporter of ABS-CBN amid challenges to its franchise renewal.
Notably, in a post that made headlines, Locsin shared photos of employees she has worked with behind the scenes — humanizing the oft-mentioned 11,000 figure of jobs at risk.
She then addressed accusations that came after she expressed support for ABS-CBN. In particular, she pointed out that she currently has no existing contract with ABS-CBN, so "the company has no control on whatever I want to post."
"Money is not everything," she also wrote previously, in response to detractors pointing out that she is listed as a stockholder of the network.
