MANILA -- Farmer-singer Rence Rapanot will represent Kamp Kawayan in the grand finals of "The Voice of the Philippines" after topping viewers' votes on Sunday.
Rapanot and fellow Team Bamboo member Rita Martinez sang "Mahirap Magmahal ng Syota ng Iba" as part of their semifinals performance.
For the live semifinals, the last eight contestants will perform twice: a solo performance and a duet with their teammate.
For her solo performance on Saturday, Martinez took on Rivermaya's "Himala", while Rapanot performed Johnoy Danao's "Ikaw at Ako".
After Sunday's duet, Sarah Geronimo said: "Sobrang kong na-enjoy 'yun ah. Parang ngayon ko lang nakita na nag-loosen up si Rence and si Rita."
Geronimo, however, chose Rapanot as the better performer.
Their coach, Bamboo Mañalac, admitted that it was difficult to choose from among the artists.
"Ito, mahirap 'to para sa akin talaga eh," he said. "I thought Rita took last night's solo, she crushed it last night. Itong gabi na 'to, kay Rence pupunta 'to. Pinapahirapan niyo talaga ako ah. Pero, I can say I would be happy with any of you moving forward to the finals. Masayang-masaya ako sa inyong dalawa," he added.
Rapanot got 55% from his coach, while Martinez got 45% from Bamboo. But Rapanot eventually got the slot in the final four after getting a whopping 57.41% of viewers' votes.
Rapanot will compete against Alisah Bonaobra, Jason Dy and Leah Patricio in the grand finals next weekend.
