MANILA — Music veteran Gary Valenciano and his wife, talent manager Angeli Pangilinan, had an emotional sendoff for their only daughter, singer Kiana Valenciano, as she starts a “new chapter” overseas.
On Instagram, Gary shared a video of Kiana packing her belongings and their family bringing the youngest Valenciano to the airport.
“Proud of my Kiana,” Gary wrote in the video’s caption. “A new chapter in her life is being written. It’s what I need to keep reminding myself as no parent ever gets used to saying goodbye to any of their children.”
Gary then quoted a verse from the Bible, which says: “So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.”
He did not indicate Kiana’s destination, but a separate post from Angeli hinted that their daughter is pursuing opportunities related to music.
Sharing similar photos of Kiana’s departure, Angeli wrote: “No words. Just a lot of tears. I offer a prayer for my daughter’s journey. She ran away from all things popular all her life even if she was born to sing. She just wanted to find her identity. She wanted to sew and draw. She painted. She played soccer. She partied. She took fashion design… And then she started to write and produce songs and found herself… Soar, Kiana, and fly.”
Angeli added that she “can’t stop crying,” recalling that she was similarly emotional when Kiana’s older brother, Gabriel, pursued a music career abroad.
Kiana, like her siblings Paolo and Gabriel, take after their father in terms of being performers. In 2019, Kiana released her first full-length album, “See Me,” under ABS-CBN’s Tarsier Records.
