MANILA — Fresh from the success of “Kadenang Ginto,” breakout stars Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin made a surprise splash in weekend ratings with the television premiere of their film, “Wild Little Love.”
Aired at 7 p.m., the iWant Original movie drew the biggest viewership on Sunday with 30.4%, according to Kantar Media, placing ahead of weekend stalwarts “The Voice Teens” (28.9%) and “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (25.8%).
“Wild Litte Love’s” wide TV audience also translated to social media buzz, as its title and terms related to the film ranked among the top trends on Twitter.
Directed by Benedict Mique, “Wild Little Love” follows the story of a spoiled, only child (Brillantes) whose forced transfer to a public school leads her to finding an unlikely romantic match (Fedelin).
“Wild Little Love” initially premiered on the streaming platform iWant in November 2019 as back-to-back offering with “Silly Red Shoes.”
The latter stars Brillantes and Fedelin’s fellow “Kadenang Ginto” cast members Francine Diaz and Kyle Echarri, and also debuted on TV on Sunday. Despite its 10:30 p.m. time slot, “Silly Red Shoes” managed a 7% nationwide rating, securing a spot in the top 20 most watched programs.
