MANILA – Bea Alonzo spent Valentine’s Day in a rather unusual way.
Last Friday, the actress surprised moviegoers at Ayala Tower One in Makati when she and John Lloyd Cruz made a public appearance.
They did a live script reading of the indie blockbuster “That Thing Called Tadhana” along with its writer and direction, Antoinette Jadaone.
Sharing to her millions of followers about how her day went, Alonzo wrote on Instagram: “It was a beautiful evening. The air was crisp, it didn't feel like it was a busy Friday night, it almost felt like the holidays again.”
“We went there unannounced with a few of our friends who opted to spend their Valentine's with us. Most of them stayed until we finished reading the two-hour-long script,” she added.
At the end of the day, Alonzo realized how much she missed working with Cruz.
“I have to say, nakaka-miss makabatuhan ng mga linya ang isang John Lloyd Cruz. I am so glad I had the privilege to be on stage with these two amazing and talented people,” she said.
The live script reading marked Cruz’s first major public appearance in a showbiz setting since his return from his two-year hiatus.
The last time Cruz and Alonzo starred in a project was in 2015 for the Cathy Garcia-Molina-directed film “A Second Chance.” More recently, however, they appeared together for a common endorsement of a shawarma brand.
Following their recent public sightings, a lot of their fans are hoping they could reunite in another big screen project.
Molina, however, refuses to confirm or deny if she will be working on another Alonzo-Cruz project soon.
“Antayin ninyo. 'Di ko sasabihin. Pangit naman kung ako ang mag-confirm sa inyo, 'di pa ako allowed,” she told PEP last February 9.
“Ako naman ay napaka-vocal sa pagiging favorite star, favorite actor ko si John Lloyd. Kaya lang, tingnan natin kung aabot siya sa aking pagreretiro. 'Di naman retiro, pagpapahinga," she added.
