MANILA - ABS-CBN formally unveiled on Tuesday its version of "Your Face Sounds Familiar," a hit celebrity impersonation contest that originated in Spain, with international performer Billy Crawford as its host.
The Kapamilya network announced the contest during its trade show for advertisers, "Shine Pilipinas," which was held at Rockwell Tent in Makati City.
Developed by Endemol, "Your Face Sounds Familiar" sees celebrity contestants impersonating iconic singers. Each celebrity gets transformed into a different singer every week, with a "Randomizer" assigning them artists who may be deceased, older or younger, or of the opposite sex.
Three judges, along with the contestants, decide which celebrity gave the most convincing impersonation through a song-and-dance number. The winner will receive a cash prize for a charity of their choice.
The local version, as seen in the teaser shown Tuesday, will have singers Toni Gonzaga, Jed Madela, and Gary Valenciano as judges.
The eight celebrity contestants have yet to be revealed.
ABS-CBN has yet to give an airing date for "Your Face Sounds Familiar."
