Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga
MANILA – The first big-screen team-up of Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga has set a new box-office record by earning P150 million in just four days after it was released in cinemas.
This figure, which was announced by Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario on Sunday, is P50 million higher compared to its recorded gross on Saturday.
Del Rosario also took the opportunity to thank moviegoers who have already seen “Starting Over Again.”
“This is truly a record-breaker! Marami pong salamat sa inyong lahat mula sa bumubuo ng Star Cinema! The movie is now showing in over 270 cinemas nationwide,” he said.
Pascual and Gonzaga are currently in the United States for the San Francisco premiere of “Starting Over Again.” Both Kapamilya stars, however, still took time to thank their supporters.
"Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. This movie was worth 13 years of waiting. God's perfect time is always the best. Thank you everyone for being brave enough to appreciate what our film has to offer. You made our first movie ni Piolo my most unforgettable film ever," said Gonzaga.
Pascual, for his part, said he is humbled by the continuous and overwhelming support from the fans.
"Thank you very much for believing and extending your support to Star Cinema and everyone who's part of this project. We're all humbled by your love. And as we celebrate Valentine's, may we continue to spread love and harbor good feelings towards everyone," he said.
Aside from its successful box-office performance in the country, Del Rosario said the movie is also doing well in San Francisco.
In the official Instagram page of Star Cinema, the Kapamilya network’s film production outfit shared a photo showing Filipinos lined up to see the movie.
It also shared another picture showing a packed theater for “Starting Over Again”’s second screening.
Directed by Olivia Lamasan the movie tells the story of former lovers who cross paths again after breaking up with no closure.
"Starting Over Again" is Star Cinema's Valentine offering.
