MANILA -- The journeys of rocker Tanya Diaz and singing contest veteran Mackie Cao ended on Saturday after they were eliminated during the live performance and elimination night of "The Voice of the Philippines."

Diaz performed Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You", a song she dedicated to her brother who passed away due to aneurysm.

Apl.de.ap praised Diaz's performance, noting how well she expresses her emotions through her songs.

Bamboo echoed apl.de.ap's comment, comparing Diaz to Kelly Clarkson.

"Yung versatility mo is amazing, it just blows us away. That performance was world-class, once again. At 'yung challenge na binigay sa'yo last week, I dropped. Sabi ko, you're a young Kelly Clarkson, a young Pink, to play that song, that's a challenge in itself, not to be compared. The great thing is, narinig namin ikaw. All I heard was Tanya, I heard your version, I heard you sing, and that's special," he said.

However, Diaz failed to move on to the next round after Bamboo chose to save Rita Galvez.

"Naku ang hirap talaga. Unang-una, maraming salamat sa inyong dalawa. Gusto ko nang punitin 'yung 'The Voice' rule book, whatever that is, we got to change some rules, man. Pero I have to choose one, on the basis of...both of you have wowed, at certain times, wowed me, had special performances. Ganoong klaseng performers kayo, you have both done that for me. There really is no clear winner, maraming maraming salamat. I have to choose now, ang basehan ko is about tonight, tonight's performance," Bamboo said, before announcing his choice.

Galvez moves on to the next round as part of Kamp Kawayan, together with Rence Rapanot, who got the highest percentage of viewers' votes.

Meanwhile, Team Apl is down to its last two members after Cao was sent home.

Cao performed Gloc-9's "Sirena", showing off her powerful voice.

The coaches praised Cao's performance, with Bamboo liking how she delivered the song.

Her coach, apl.de.ap, also praised how Cao was able to show her versatility through her performance.

"Iba ka talaga, Mackie. Hindi ka lang biritera, now you showed that you can rap, I mean that was a full circle performance. Thank you and congratulations," apl.de.ap told Cao.

However, Cao lost her chance to move on with the competition after apl.de.ap chose to save Daryl Ong.

"Unang-una, gusto kong sabihin sa inyo na mahal na mahal ko kayong dalawa, and you are both equally talented. You have brought something special sa competition na 'to. Hay, ang hirap. You are both special. Like I said, equally talented, pero kailangan kong pumili ngayong gabi. Alam ko naman na ano man ang mangyari, we're gonna remain family. Ang artist na pipiliin ko 'yung nagbigay ng buong puso, performance...I don't even know," apl.de.ap said before announcing his choice.

Ong, together with Bonaobra, moves on to the semifinals as part of Team Apl.
