It's not every day you get to say that your girlfriend made Jessie J proud.
And TJ Monterde was more than happy to join the chorus of congratulations for KZ Tandingan, after the "X-Factor Philippines" winner defeated the British pop star on a Chinese singing show.
On Friday's episode of "Singer 2018," Tandingan delivered her own rendition of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." She put her own spin on the song by adding a Tagalog rap verse in the middle.
It earned her the top spot in this week's rankings on the show --a place above Jessie J.
The "Price Tag" hitmaker conceded that Tandingan was a worthy winner, giving her a hug just as the results were announced.
"Iyong mapabilib mo idol mo, sarap sa puso nun!" Monterde, a singer and songwriter himself, wrote as his message for Tandingan.
Prior to her stunning performance, fans saw Tandingan breaking down (around the 12-minute mark in the video below) in tears after she personally got to meet Jessie J.
The Pinay singer shared the story of how hearing Jessie J inspired her when she was about to give up on her dreams: "Who I am as an artist now, a big chunk of that is because of you."
Following her win, Filipino fans were quick to praise Tandingan on social media. She was one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter late Friday.
