MANILA -- "It's Showtime" mainstay Ryan Bang, a South Korean who joined local showbiz after his "Pinoy Big Brother" stint, was among those chosen to light the flame for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018.
Photos of Bang as the Philippines' torchbearer for the pre-opening program were uploaded on Instagram by Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent arm which manages his acting career.
Instead of running, Bang rode a hot air balloon over Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province.
The 2018 Winter Olympics torch relay began last October 24 in Greece, and is set to finish on Friday, February 9 at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium.
Speaking with ABS-CBN entertainment news site PUSH, Bang said he met "Goblin" star Lee Dong Wook during the torch relay event. The comedian added he was even invited watch Lee's March 13 concert.
"Bonding daw kami ni Lee Dong Wook," Bang said, adding he is unsure yet if his schedule will allow him to see the superstar's live performance.
