Jhong wins best performance for indie film

MANILA – "It's Showtime" host Jhong Hilario bagged the Best Performance award from the Young Critics' Circle (YCC), which named Adolfo Alix Jr.’s “Porno” the the Best Film.

Hilario, who won for the film “Badil,” shared the award with Carlo Aquino for “Porno,” which bagged five awards.

The movie, which tells the story of individuals linked through pornography, was voted Best Screenplay and Best Sound and Aural Orchestration, and tied with Frasco Mortiz’s “Pagpag” for Best Editing.

According to the YCC, this is Alix’s third Best Film award from the organization, previously winning in 2009 for “Adela” and in 2012 for “Haruo.”

Established in 1990, the YCC is composed of members of academe from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University.

The awards ceremony is set on the third week of March, with the specific date and venue to be announced soon.

First Feature – Kristian Sendon Cordero (Angustia), Miguel Alcazaren (Puti), and Randolph Longjas (Ang Turkey Man Ay Pabo Rin)
