MANILA -- Matt Reyes, a 16-year-old from Las Piñas, is the first four-chair turner of the second season of "The Voice Teens."
As seen in the pilot episode of the show's new season, aired Saturday, Reyes sang an incredibly pleasing cover of SWV's "Weak."
"You got something really special," said Lea Salonga, who was one of the first coaches to turn her chair for Reyes.
All of the coaches, including Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo, were in agreement over Reyes' potential, noting the "swagger" in his overall performance as one of his main strengths.
This special quality was why apl.de.ap was determined to recruit the talented teen on his team, going as far as to call some of the past contestants he trained to help convince Reyes.
Ultimately, Reyes picked apl.de.ap.
This new season is the second teen edition of "The Voice Philippines." It is notable for seeing the return of apl.de.ap as a coach, and the introduction of the "power to block," which would allow each coach to bar their fellow coaches from recruiting a contestant.
It is hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga.
