MANILA – It took almost seven months to film “Goyo,” the upcoming biopic about national hero Gregorio del Pilar.
The titular character will be played by actor Paulo Avelino, who admitted that there is a huge pressure given the surprise success of its prequel, “Heneral Luna.”
Nonetheless, Avelino said their main priority is to give audiences a quality movie.
"Of course may pressure from ‘Heneral Luna.’
Last year, Avelino also starred in “Ang Larawan,” which was based on Nick Joaquin’s "A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino."
When asked if these are the kinds of film that he would want to make moving forward, Avelino said: "Nagkataon lang siguro na kada pelikula na ginagawa ko, naghahanap lang ako ng kakaiba na hindi ko pa nagagawa.”
Aside from “Goyo,” Avelino is also shooting “Kasal,” with Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay. He is also part of the ABS-CBN series “Asintado.”
