MANILA — Actress Nadine Lustre could not help but confront a driver whom she saw throwing paper and plastic wrappers from the vehicle’s window, as she urged her followers to do their part in protecting and conserving the environment.
Lustre, 25, took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to share the incident which happened on board a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ship.
“I caught someone [throwing] paper and plastic wrappers out their van’s window,” she narrated. “I picked it up, knocked on the door and asked the driver to throw it properly in a trash can.”
“I don’t think I can forgive myself if I just stood still and let the trash go into the ocean,” Lustre added.
Lustre reminded her followers that “we are part of everything.”
“Everything that we do to harm the earth will, eventually, come back to us, maybe not now but in the future. The universe has been so good to us. We are so lucky to have a home that has everything we need.
“Let’s be grateful and start taking care of it. Please, please, please let’s all work together. We can do this! All we need is a little bit of responsibility and a whole lot of love,” she said.
This isn’t the first time Lustre has taken action against improper waste disposal. In July 2018, she and her friends, along with onscreen and real-life partner James Reid, took part in an impromptu beach clean-up in Siargao.
