MANILA - Actress Kim Chiu credited her late mother for the success of "Bride For Rent," her second film co-starring Xian Lim.
During her speech at the film's recent victory party, Chiu turned emotional when she thanked her mother, Louella, who passed away due to aneurysm last year.
"Thank you kay Papa God, thank you so much and of course sa Mama ko kung nasaan man siya ngayon, thank you so much," she said, sobbing. So thank you, thank you Mama."
"Bride for Rent" has already surpassed the P300 million mark in box-office earnings as of Sunday, a feat Chiu admittedly did not expect.
My gosh ano kayang ginawa kong kalokohan at natatawa sila sa akin," she said.
The actress, in her speech, also thanked Lim for helping her become more spontaneous in acting, and Star Cinema for allowing her to express her comedic side.
