MANILA - Comedian-host Vice Ganda is returning to the Araneta Coliseum for a major concert on May 22 to mark his his 15th year in show business.
The last time Vice Ganda had a big concert at the Cubao venue was back in May 2013 with the record-breaking "I-Vice Ganda Mo 'Ko sa Araneta," with special guests Daniel Padilla, Enrique Gil, Paulo Avelino, Dawn Zulueta, Regine Velasquez and Ai Ai delas Alas.
"Hindi ko nagawa ng 2014 'yon. So ngayong 2015 ay magbabalik ako sa Araneta," the "It's Showtime" host said in an interview on Monday after inking a contract with Star Cinema.
In fact, as early as now, he has started preparing for the concert.
"Kaya nga nag-comedy bar ako last week, three consecutive days. Parang practice, ginawa ko ulit 'yung comedy bar," added Vice Ganda.
It was back in 1999 when he joined the segment "O... Diva" on "Eat Bulaga." He then started performing in comedy bars in 2000.
Looking back on his career, Vice Ganda admitted that he never thought that he will make it big in the industry.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda announced that he has signed a "multi-picture" contract with Star Cinema, extending their partnership which resulted in box office hits like the recent "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin," which is now the highest-grossing local film of all time.
This year, Vice Ganda is set to do a movie with actor Coco Martin, and another one with Daniel Padilla for the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival.
"Parehas na exciting pero mas na e-excite ako kay Coco dahil first time na magkasama kami sa pelikula at first time na kami ang bida," he said.
In the interview, Vice Ganda also admitted his surprise that he has a strong fan base among children.
