MANILA—Aiko Melendez denied Wednesday rumors that she is planning to sue ex-husband Jomari Yllana, who is reportedly expecting a child with his current partner.
The 42-year-old actress addressed the issue on the sidelines of the press conference for the nearing finale of "Wildflower", where she plays the antagonist to Maja Salvador's Lily Cruz.
"I’m very happy for them and no truth to the rumors that I am suing them," Melendez was quoted by PEP.ph as saying. “I'd like to clarify that because it’s causing tension between me and the future wife of Jomari."
Melendez pointed out that her marriage with Yllana has long been annulled, "so walang kaso na puwede kong ikaso kay Jomari."
"And now na he’s having a baby -- a baby is always a blessing -- why would I hinder that happiness?" she added.
Melendez has a son with Yllana, Andrei. She has a daughter, Marthena, with her second husband, Martin Jickain. Her marriage with Jickain has also been annulled.
"The chapter of Jomari’s life in my life is closed now. It’s my respect du'n sa upcoming baby, lalo na maselan 'yung pagbubuntis ni Joy," Melendez said, referring to Yllana's partner. "Ayoko nang mag-add ng tension du'n, let’s give it to them."
Meanwhile, Melendez acknowledged she is seeing "someone special, someone makes me happy and smile."
Only confirming the man is a politician, Melendez said it's to her advantage that her "love life" is non-showbiz.
"Mas tahimik, less hassles and less controversies," she said. "I want to keep it private this time, because most of my relationships are out in the open."
Asked if she is open to the possibility of getting married for a third time, the actress answered: "You know, kung maging OK 'yung ganito, 'yung takbo ng what we have right now, kung magtuluy-tuloy, who knows, 'di ba?"
