MANILA - Maja Salvador is best known these days as her vengeful character, Lily Cruz a.k.a. Ivy Aguas, in the hit primetime series "Wildflower."
But the 29-year-old actress is equally popular as a total performer, with studio albums, solo concerts, and a regular "ASAP" dance segment to her name.
It's no surprise then that Salvador, the actress and the recording artist, became the subject of a hilarious impersonation on a recent episode of the reality talent search "Pilipinas Got Talent."
Taking his cue from Ivy Aguas, contestant Orville Tonido took the stage in a black wedding gown, and taking his cue from Salvador the singer, he lip-synched her pop hit "Dahan-Dahan."
Tonido had the judges laughing as he spun the title to mean "dahon-dahon," and literally brought out from under his dress plants of increasing sizes -- an act that successfully earned him a ticket to the next round.
Salvador was asked for her reaction to the spoof Wednesday, on the sidelines of the press conference for the nearing finale of "Wildflower."
"Ako rin, aliw na aliw!" she told ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe. "Hindi ko alam kung saan niya nilagay 'yung mga dahon niya. At hindi lang basta dahon! Sanga-sanga ng puno ng niyog ba 'yon?"
Asked how she feels to have reached a point in her career where she is being impersonated, Salvador said, "Maliban 'yung name ko na Maja, it's more on Ivy Aguas and Lily Cruz, e."
She added: "Masaya na ako doon, kasi para gayahin ka, ibig sabihin, mahal talaga nila 'yung character mo, may ginawa 'yung character mo na gustung-gusto ng mga tao na maging sila. At masaya ako doon."
Salvador, who is approaching her 15th year in acting, admitted her role as Lily Cruz will be more "difficult to let go" compared to her past characters.
"Hindi ko alam kung paano siya aalisin. Forever siyang nandoon," she said. "Dahil iba 'yung ginawa niya sa sarili ko at sa career ko at sa trabaho ko."
