No wonder Yeng Constantino, one of the judges of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," turned emotional after hearing Tuko delos Reyes's performance of the classic OPM song, "Gulong ng Palad."
The semifinalist from Aurora delivered a stellar cover, which had the "Hawak Kamay" hitmaker, as well as some members of the studio audience on Wednesday, holding back tears of emotion.
"Inaano ba kita?" quipped Constantino as she tried to explain to him what made his version so moving.
"Iyong boses mo eh ginto. The moment na ibukas mo iyong bibig mo at kumanta ka, sobrang tumatagos sa puso."
"Nahatid mo ng maganda, malinaw, at magaan kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng kantang ito," she added. "Hindi lang ako na-entertain; na-touch mo iyong soul ko, at soul ng madlang people.
Delos Reyes, a pandesal vendor, is one of the six, third-quarter semifinalists, along with Charles Kevin Tan, Sofronio Vasquez, Boyet Onte, Ato Arman, and Lalaine Araña.
This week, they will compete in six themed rounds in the hopes of clinching a slot in the grand finals.
