'Legal Wife' pilot draws strong ratings, rules timeslot

MANILA - The pilot episode of "The Legal Wife," the comeback drama series of actress Angel Locsin, won big in nationwide ratings on Monday, making it the No. 1 program in its timeslot.

According to data from multinational market research group Kantar Media, "The Legal Wife" scored 21% in national TV ratings on January 27, while its competing show aired on GMA-7, "Rhodora X," only registered 11%.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

Directed by Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, "The Legal Wife" also stars Maja Salvador, JC de Vera, Jericho Rosales, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, and Christopher de Leon.

Airing before the new drama series, "Got to Believe" similarly drew strong viewership on Monday despite having the debut of a new rival program also on GMA-7.

The soap starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla led its timeslot with a nationwide rating of 29.8%, according to Kantar Media, while "Carmela" only posted 14.4%.
