MANILA, Philippines - Entertainment journalist-host Ogie Diaz, who came under attack for criticizing Charice, apologized to the young international singing sensation on Wednesday afternoon.
Diaz said he is sorry if Charice, her family and her fans, collectively known as Chasters, got offended by his opinions with regard to the 18-year-old singer.
Diaz, host of “Entertainment Live,” however, denied making harsh comments against Charice’s mom.
Pangalawa, wala akong binabanggit tungkol sa mother ni Charice," he said.
Diaz, for instance, reportedly posted on his Twitter that Charice’s nerdy eyeglasses “looks so ugly on her.”
He also slammed the “Pyramid singer” in his column for “acting like a foreign artist” in the Philippines.
Charice drew flak from the entertainment press for reportedly snubbing them after the “1@11” concert at SM Mall of Asia.
Chasters did not take Diaz's remarks sitting down. They lashed back at Diaz as they vowed to boycott all his projects.
Diaz lamented that even his mom has not been spared from criticisms.
Diaz acknowledged that his public apology is not enough. He said he will personally apologize to Charice once they see each other.
Diaz already deleted all his tweets regarding the singer. He has more than 94,000 followers on Twitter.
Abs-cbnNEWS.com tried to get Charice and her mom's reactions but, as of posting time, she had yet to reply.
