MANILA - Former sweethearts Claudine Barretto and Mark Anthony Fernandez are finally reuniting onscreen, the actor has confirmed.
Fernandez, 39, officially signed up with Viva Artists Agency Thursday, marking a new chapter for the former matinee idol following a year of imprisonment for marijuana possession.
Speaking with reporters after the contract signing, Fernandez expressed gratefulness for having another shot at showbiz.
"Antabayanan niyo po 'yung mga proyektong gagawin ko," he said. "Pinapangako ko po, I will make sure your time and your money will be worthwhile."
Among the new projects, Fernandez confirmed, is his onscreen reunion with Barretto, his erstwhile "love team" partner and real-life girlfriend for a time. Both now have respective families.
"We'll be doing a project together. We just don't know what yet, pero they're fixing the scripts," he said.
Barretto, who is also a contract artist of Viva, earlier urged her followers to give Fernandez a second chance, and to "lift each other up, not pull others down."
Among their high-profile projects were "Mangarap Ka" and "Pare Ko," both Star Cinema productions which they did when they were still teenagers.
