MANILA -- Team Lea is now down to five members, after another contestant said goodbye to the competition on Sunday.
On Saturday, Abbey Pineda, Leah Patricio and Nino Alejandro showed off their skills in the first live performance night of "The Voice of the Philippines" this season.
Patricio wowed the audience with her rendition of Whitney Houston's "Queen of the Night." Her amazing performance guaranteed her a spot in the next round of the competition after garnering 46.37% of the viewers' votes.
Alejandro, meanwhile, performed his own rendition of his uncle Hajji Alejandro's "Nakapagtataka" in the live shows.
Their coach Lea Salonga first thanked both Alejandro and Pineda for being part of her team.
She also explained each contestant's strength and weakness.
"Kay Nino, 'yung strength mo 'yung pagiging musical mo, 'yung musicality, your vocal consistency is your strength. However, and I watched this sa television kagabi, na kahit na iniwan mo 'yung puso mo sa stage, minsan ang nangyayari, hindi pa rin umaabot na nagtatranscend sa nanonood sa kanilang tahanan. That is something you need to work on," Salonga told Alejandro.
Salonga said Pineda is the opposite: more emotional, but with inconsistencies in her musicality.
"For Abbey, opposite. Your emotion, 'yung emosyon mo 'yung umaapaw. However, musicality and your vocals are inconsistent. From day to day, hindi ko alam kung ano ang ibibigay mo sa akin," she added.
Salonga eventually chose to save Alejandro.
