MANILA -- Theater actor and singer Poppert Bernadas was eliminated during the live episode of "The Voice of the Philippines" on Sunday, as teammates Monique Lualhati and Rivermaya's former frontman Jason Fernandez advanced to the next round.
Bernadas, Lualhati and Fernandez were the first three members of Team Sarah to perform in this season's live shows.
For his live performance on Saturday, he sang James Brown's "I Feel Good," incorporating dance moves into his performance.
His journey, however, was cut short after Sarah Geronimo chose Fernandez to move on to the next round.
"Hindi lang ako ang coach na napabilib mo during the blind auditions, lahat ng coaches, four-chair turner ka, at noong napanood kita sa 'Rak of Aegis,' lalo mo akong pinahanga. Hindi ko alam na ganoon ka kagaling. At nagpeperform ka sa stage, everytime na lang, talagang like it's your last. Bigay-todo, talagang walang makakapantay sa energy mo," Geronimo told Bernadas.
It was Lualhati who topped the viewers' votes for Team Sarah, which guaranteed her a spot in the next round.
This meant Geronimo had to choose between Bernardas and Fernandez, who was praised for showing his voice's versatility all throughout the competition.
"Ang alam ko lang, magaling ka na, mula noong naging vocalist ka ng Rivermaya. Pero noong napanood kita during the Battles, Knock Outs, at kagabi, iba iba, facets, ang pinapakita mo, as an artist," Geronimo told Fernandez.
