MANILA, Philippines – Saying he has been falsely accused, the camp of controversial actor Baron Geisler on Monday filed a countersuit against young actress Yasmien Kurdi and her lawyers as well as the prosecutors, police and social workers who handled Kurdi’s harassment case against him.
Geisler's legal counsel, lawyer Bonifacio Alentajan, charged them with violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Aside from Kurdi, the other respondents are Alfredo Geronimo, Eduardo dela Cruz, Anna Maria Angela Garcia, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Orsos, Police Chief Superintendent Yolanda Tanigue, Nora Bote and Marsha Agustin.
"We are here to seek justice for him. Sobra na ang pang-aapi 'yong ginagawa sa kanya. Ganyan ang lumalabas sa mga dokumento na ginawa nila. Pinagtulung-tulungan nila ito para maakusahan ng hindi totoo si Baron. Puro conclusions lang ng people who are not even competent to make such conclusions," Alentajan said.
Almost two years ago, Kurdi charged Geisler with acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation. The actress claimed that Geisler had allegedly made "lewd gestures" and "indecent proposals" to her during the taping of a television series in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Geisler pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of acts of lasciviousness and 2 counts of unjust vexation last week.
Alentajan also maintained that his client did not commit any wrongdoing.
"Ako ay naniniwalang walang kaso. Sang-ayon sa complaint o information na ginawa ng piskal ay walang acts of lasciviousness doon. How can that happen nasa set sila, may cameraman, may director at may camera at maraming tao?" the lawyer added.
The daughter of William Martinez and Yayo Aguila also charged the young actor with acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation in April of 2008.
Geisler, in a previous interview, also denied that he harassed actress-host Julia Clarete in April of last year during a birthday party.
Recently, he also got involved in a controversy after veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache accused Geisler of touching her breasts during the taping of the television series "Noah."
Picache filed a complaint against Geisler, who admitted that he is an alcoholic, before the management of ABS-CBN and Professional Artist Management, Inc (PAMI).
Geisler was removed from the TV show “Noah” as a result of the complaint. PAMI officials, on the other hand, have called on the group's members to prohibit their talents from working with the multi-awarded actor.
PAMI is comprised of big talent managers in the country.
Geisler, meanwhile, is set to enter an undisclosed rehabilitation facility where he will stay for 3 months. -Showbiz News Ngayon
