MANILA - Ferdinand Topacio has withdrawn as the legal counsel of Claudine Barretto in all legal cases of the actress in Marikina City, the lawyer announced on Thursday.

According to Topacio, his team will no longer be involved in the cases of Barretto filed in the Regional Trial Court and Prosecutor's Office of Marikina City and in the Department of Justice.

These include Barretto's legal feud with her former personal assistants.

One of Barretto's aides, Dessa Patilan, was detained for 10 months at the Marikina City Jail after being accused of stealing jewelry from the actress. She was released on bail in March 2014, with the help of Barretto's estranged sister, Gretchen Barretto.

Patilan filed a countercharge against her former employer, she also accused of stealing from her.

Topacio did not give any reason for withdrawing as Barretto's lawyer in these cases, but added that his office remains involved in the actress' fight against husband Raymart Santiago.

"We shall continue to represent Ms. Barretto in her case VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) case against Mr. Raymart Santiago, including the issues of custody and support consolidated therewith, which is nearing resolution resolution, until the Regional Trial Court level only," Topacio said in his statement.

The lawyer added: "It has been our honor and pleasure to represent Ms. Barretto, and we will continue to render to her whatever extrajudicial legal support and advice necessary to protect her interests in the transition period until she finds new legal representation. We wish her success in her future endeavors."
