James Reid and Nadine Lustre on Monday left their supporters reeling from their announcement that they have indeed broken up.
Some JaDine fans felt shattered following the end of their idols' relationship.
To ease the pain, there were those who chose to look back at the couple’s happy memories together.
This includes reminiscing and watching again the two’s phenomenal series “On the Wings of Love,” which helped cement their status as one of the hottest love teams in the country.
But there were those who felt that Reid and Lustre’s separation reminded them of the heart-rending breakup of their characters on that show.
To refresh everyone’s memories, here’s a look at that definitive split between Clark and Leah played by Reid and Lustre respectively.
In the episode, Clark and Leah struggled to make their long-distance relationship work.
An increasingly frustrated Clark battles for the scraps of attention he gets from Leah, whose focus remains her job.
After months of being in a long distance relationship, Leah found herself back in the Philippines to personally support her father's heart transplant. The surgery was a success, but being back home meant that she will have to face Clark, who -- at this point -- was suffering from a bad case of inferiority complex.
Clark confronted Leah, insisting that she gives up her work in Dubai and stay with him. Seemingly adamant to break up with Leah, he began forcing her to admit that she would rather work abroad than be with him.
That episode left so many viewers heartbroken that it even spurned an online debate as to whether Leah made the right decision in choosing her career over Clark.
The plot, however, is far from the real-life current situation between Reid and Lustre.
On Monday, the two confirmed the separation through a joint statement released via the live January 20 episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”
“It’s true that we have split up, but not for all the reasons that are being spread on the tabloids and social media, but because after quiet and mature conversations, we decided to focus on ourselves not only for our careers but more for our personal growth as we are still young and we want to achieve as much as we can,” they said.
Reid and Lustre would have celebrated their 4th anniversary on February 11.
