MANILA – Nadine Lustre is willing to audition for the role of Darna for the planned superhero film adaptation.

In an interview with DZMM last Saturday, director Erik Matti admitted that Star Cinema has yet to find an actress who will replace Angel Locsin as Darna.

Matti said he suggested to the ABS-CBN film outfit to hold auditions for the role since it would require a lot of physical scenes.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Lustre said: “I would pero we have a tour, we have a lot of things coming up so tignan natin. Pero kung sasabihin na mag-audition ako, mag-o-audition talaga ako.”

In a poll conducted by Push last November, Lustre was the overwhelming pick to replace Locsin. Liza Soberano came in second, while Kathryn Bernardo placed third.

Asked how she feels about it, Lustre said: “Nakakatuwa po and I’m just really thankful for the fans. Sabi nga nila, ako daw po 'yung nai-imagine nila and all. Kasi ‘di ba Darna, she’s one of the most iconic na roles dito sa atin. Why not?”

During the DZMM interview, Matti weighed in on the actresses who are supposedly being considered to play the Filipina superhero.

According to Matti, Lustre could be a good fit for the role but he needs to see the “On the Wings of Love” actress in person again.

“Okay din naman si Nadine. Hindi ko pa siya nakikita personal. Hindi ko pa nakikita kung gaano siya katangkad ngayon. Kasi I’ve done two commercials with her a year ago. Hindi ko lang alam kung ang height niya ay tama,” he said.
