MANILA, Philippines – “Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal?,” ABS-CBN’s upcoming afternoon television series, was first offered to Roxanne Guinoo, but the young actress eventually backed out of the project because of the love scenes.
This was confirmed by Raymond Gallegos Dizon, who is the show’s business unit head. Dizon said Guinoo, who already did a sexy calendar shoot, backed out of the project after the first shooting day.
Dizon said the actress raised concerns about the love scenes.
"Baka daw kasi hindi niya magawa ‘yong love scene na ipapagawa sa kanya ni Direk Chito [Roño]. It was really a personal decision that she made," Dizon explained.
Rumor has it that Guinoo began turning down projects with sexy or intimate scenes ever since she started going out with her non-celebrity boyfriend.
The role later went to Valerie "Bangs" Garcia.
"Actually, it was really a personal decision that she made. We had meetings. Sabi ko nga sayang she should have accepted it pero parang she really decided not to accept the role. But we are really happy that Bangs replaced her kasi parang mas fresh ‘yong artistang gaganap," Dizon said.
"Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal?" is based on Gilda Olvidado's hit pocket book. Prior to its television adaptation, it was made into a film in 1989.
The TV show also stars Mickey Ferriols, Bing Pimentel, Emilio Garcia, Nikki Valdez, Beverly Salviejo, Debraliz Valasote, Paw Diaz, Bettina Carlos, Martin del Rosario, Makisig Morales, Ella Cruz and Joshua Dionisio.
