MANILA - Actress-host Kris Aquino defended her son, James "Bimby" Yap Jr. from online bullies who commented that the young boy is gay.
On Friday, Aquino slammed bashers who called Bimby "toyab," the inverted form of "bayot," which is the Visayan word for gay.
The netizens made the comment after Aquino posted Bimby's birthday greeting for his "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" co-star Alex Gonzaga.
"Alam niyo kung balak nyong bastusin ang anak ko, do it ng harap harapan. Kasi hindi ko kayo aatrasan. Super nag PRAY ako today, Pero kahit sinong naany kung anak na 7 years old ang aapihin, papatol at handang RUMESBAK," Aquino wrote.
Aquino's message defending her son has since been deleted but screen-caps of the online exchange have been posted on media sites.
Aquino's other followers tried to calm her down but the actress-host said she's just doing her job as a mother in protecting her child.
"If I ignore, I'm not doing my job of protecting my son. Ang DUWAG eh," Aquino said
One of the netizens, @iammalvindajeros, eventually apologized to Aquino.
"Apology accepted," Aquino answered back. "But please don't bully a 7-year-old who was just greeting a person we've come to love happy birthday."
