MANILA – The second big-screen team-up of Xian Lim and Kim Chiu earned over P20 million on the first day of its nationwide release.

In a post on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, Star Cinema's advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario announced that “Bride For Rent” raked in a total of P21.2 million at the box office on Wednesday.

“Amaaazzzzinnggg!!! On its first day: #brideforrent made a whopping P21.2Million at the box-office!!! Congratulations to the entire team! Pang-MMFF levels sa lakas ang kimxian tandem,” he wrote.

Following this success, Del Rosario said the movie will now be screened in 133 cinemas nationwide.

Lim, meanwhile, thanked everyone who has already seen the movie.

"Thank you ng sobra sobra guys! we earned 22.1M in our first day! thank you for allowing us to touch your hearts," he said.

However, it remains to be seen whether “Bride For Rent” will surpass the record made by Lim and Chiu’s first movie together, "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo," which grossed over P100 million in three weeks.

Aside from Lim and Chiu, "Bride for Rent" also stars Pilita Corales, Tirso Cruz III, Matt Evans, Martin del Rosario, and Matt Evans.
