MANILA -- Sharon Cuneta was a clear standout during the opening of the PBA's 44th season at the Philippine Arena on Sunday.
The veteran actress was the muse of Magnolia, which she has been endorsing for quite some time now.
“I am honored. I am happy. I am proud of Magnolia and to be part of the family of Purefoods and Magnolia. Lahat naman ng teams, masarap maging parte ng ganitong liga kasi it promotes sportsmanship, camaraderie. So you root for the team that you love but you also appreciate the efforts of everyone,” she told reporters in an interview.
Cuneta said her stint as Magnolia’s muse made her reminisce about the last time she played the same role many years ago.
“Sayang wala si Captain Alvin (Patrimonio) kasi the last time I was a muse was for Purefoods and it was the team of Alvin. Nung '90s pa, I think 30 years ago. It’s really an honor. Sayang wala si Captain dito,” she said.
Addressing some negative comments online after the roster of muses was announced, Cuneta said: “They don’t mean anything to me because I am the one that’s here. I was chosen by Magnolia. I did not volunteer. I am their major endorser so I think it’s understandable.”
Meanwhile, Cuneta also gave a peek on how busy her year is going to be.
“I have an upcoming concert in Singapore on February 10. I have 10 shows in the US and Canada in February up to end of March,” she said.
“And then I am shooting a movie with Reality Entertainment with direk Erik Matti. It’s my first horror movie, ‘Cuaresma.’ It’s showing sa May, Mother’s Day,” she added.
Without disclosing any further details, Cuneta said she will also shoot a couple more movies and probably a big concert towards the end of the year but she is not at liberty to talk about them yet.
