KZ Tandingan could not hold back tears on Thursday's "Tonight with Boy Abunda" as she tried to express just how grateful she is to be engaged to fellow singer TJ Monterde, her first-ever boyfriend.
During the interview, the couple was asked if they could each sing a song for one another.
In explaining the lyrics to the original song she sang, Tandingan said that she waited "23 long years" for Monterde, referring to the fact that she had been single since birth up until their relationship.
She then teared up and said: "I'm thankful na God didn't allow me to go through a lot of heartbreaks bago ko nahanap si TJ."
Facing her fiance, she added: "You are worth the wait."
In the same interview, she also talked about how Monterde never get tired of giving her reassurance over her many insecurities. She even admitted that she used to punch Monterde for saying that she's beautiful even when she doesn't feel that way.
According to Monterde, he made sure to include that in his proposal: "I mean it when I tell you I love you, I mean it when I tell you you're beautiful, and I meant it nung isinulat ko na hinding-hindi na kita bibitawan."
Tandingan and Monterde got engaged on the penultimate day of 2019. They first became a couple in 2015.
