MANILA – Last year, Bela Padilla and Alessandra de Rossi made waves not just as actresses but as scriptwriters. Padilla wrote the Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga starrer "Last Night," while de Rossi wrote the script of her own movie, "12."
Now Jessy Mendiola seems to be taking the same route.
Based on her latest Instagram post, Mendiola is currently taking a scriptwriting workshop under the acclaimed screenwriter Ricky Lee.
“Excited to explore something new. Thank you sir Ricky Lee for encouraging all of us,” she wrote in the caption as she posted a picture of her scriptwriting batch.
Her boyfriend, Luis Manzano, supports this endeavor as can be seen in his comment, saying how proud he is of Mendiola.
Among Mendiola’s batchmates are celebrity couple Kean Cipriano and Chynna Ortaleza.
In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, Mendiola said she’s excited to finally go back to work this year.
“I had a meeting with the bosses a few weeks ago. They are planning something. Sabi nila mag-work na daw ako ulit,” she said.
“I am happy naman na 'yung meeting na ‘yun, meron pa silang plano para sa akin kasi for the longest time, akala ko wala na. Now, meron akong newfound hope and it looks like 2018 will really be exciting,” she added.
Mendiola was one of the mainstays of the Sunday gag show “Banana Sundae” and performs on “ASAP” from time to time. Her last movie project was “Extra Service” with Arci Munoz and Coleen Garcia last January 2017.
