MANILA — A year before “Tala” became a ubiquitous dance craze in the latter half of 2019, Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis performed a mashup of the song with the latter’s catchy TV ad jingle.
Geronimo, who originally released “Tala” as a single in 2016, was Curtis’ special guest in her August 2018 concert at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
On Instagram on Tuesday, Curtis shared a video of her “Tala” number with Geronimo, in light of the #TalaNation flash mob that brought together performers in viral dance covers.
“Since I can’t do my own cover just yet kasi baka bigla akong manganak,” a pregnant Curtis wrote, referring to her due date some time in February or March.
“I was so excited, nervous and happy (obvious naman sa mukha ko) to share the stage with her! You’ll see her prowess when she does her thang on stage! Napakagaling! Haaay! Basta! Let’s see baka [pag] nasa 36th week na ako, I’ll give it a try! Ayaw paawat!” she said, with a laughing emoji.
In her performance with Geronimo, Curtis sang parts of a jingle from her TV commercial for a fast food chain. That “Tala”-based jingle, about a burger rice dish, became popular when it debuted in mid-2018.
