MANILA, Philippines – Independent film “Presa,” which depicts the intertwining lives of women inmates, was screened on Sunday at the Women's Correctional Institution.
Veteran stars Daria Ramirez and Perla Bautista joined director Adolfo Alix Jr. during the showing of the film.
“Presa” features award-winning and veteran indie film stars including Anita Linda, Ramirez, Jodi Sta. Maria, Tetchie Agbayani, Angeli Agbayani, Ina Feleo, Liza Lorena, Bautista, Rosanna Roces, and with the special participation of Alessandra De Rossi.
Linda, who also played the lead in Alix's 2008 film "Adela", plays the title role in "Presa"
Presa was one of the 5 indie movies that had a premiere screening at Robinsons Galleria Cinema 3 as part of last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival's (MMFF) Independent Film Section.
Alix bagged the Indie Film of the Year Award at the 36th MMFF.
Alix's winning film is based on a true story and was shot on location inside the Women's Correctional Institution.
The film will reportedly get a regular run in commercial theaters this year. "Presa" will also premiere abroad at a film festival in 2011.
