Actress Cristine Reyes is one of the country’s hottest teleserye and movie celebrities. She has starred in numerous blockbusters, and has shown her talent in acting and hosting in her 10-year showbiz career. But unknown to many, Cristine is also passionate about fitness, always finding time to exercise and learn new sports, despite her busy schedule.

Her favorite hangout is Ultimate Fitness, a gym for martial arts fighters and beginners, complete with a boxing ring, punching bags, treadmills, plyometric equipment, weights and champion trainers.

Its owner is none other than cage veteran Erwin Tagle. A standout in Philippine mixed martial arts, this flyweight fighter is now living his dream to teach more Pinoys his beloved sport.

Dyan and Cristine went to Ultimate Fitness to try a few fitness routines.

They started with Fight Form's Level 1 workout, together with some of Ultimate Fitness' regulars. Erwin first taught them the basic moves. From jabs and kicks to chokes and sprawls, Fight Form simulates the regular training of mixed martial arts fighters.

This 15-minute high intensity interval training is not for the weak-willed. It is very punishing and requires not just strength but also stamina, speed, body coordination and even mental toughness.

Each routine mimics a fighting scenario. So in fifteen minutes, people can get to learn useful techniques in wrestling, jiu jitsu, muay thai and boxing.

The group was glad to survive Level 1 but Coach Erwin dared them to try the next level. Level 2 is different from the basics. One has to complete dynamic functional training in five stations--giant tire, RIP 60, kicks, punch bag and the battle ropes.

Fight Form is one tough physical and mental challenge. The best part is that it does not have to be done alone. Some opt to do the workout in a group, so they are always encouraged to give their best.

It is not surprising why Fight Form is Cristine's favorite workout. It is not just a good cardio routine, but also tones the whole body--from arms and legs to glutes and core.
