MANILA - An orange tabby cat "graduated" from one of the Philippines' top universities after the school body threw a parting ceremony for its resident feline.

"Archer" wore his a graduation cap as he was carried atop a makeshift stage at the Henry Sy Sr. Grounds of the De La Salle University (DLSU) along Taft Avenue in Manila.

Archer's graduation picture was flashed on an LED screen while several students and faculty members took part in his graduation rites held March 27, 2019.

Archer was even conferred with an alumni card, and the ceremony ended with the lone graduate doing away with the traditional march as he instead opted to leap off the table.

The cat will leave university grounds after being adopted by "Ate Jenny," a former school security personnel, due to medical reasons, the DLSU Professors for the Upliftment of Society's Animals (DLSU-PUSA) earlier said.

Limited edition pins, stickers, and other pet merchandise were sold at Archer's graduation, where proceeds will be donated to the DLSU-PUSA that tends to stray cats within and around the university.
