Total project implementation po ng total retrofitting po ng EDSA Kamuning ay aabutin po ng 11 buwan po,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;(This project is very important because this is in preparation to &ldquo;The Big One&rdquo; in case it happens. The total project implementation of EDSA Kamuning (flyover) will last 11 months.)&ldquo;Kung matatandaan &lsquo;nyo po ang tulay na ito ay na-construct noon pang 1980s. Ang maibibigay ko pong halimbawa ay yung nangyaring lindol sa Taiwan. Kung hindi natin ito ma-i-implement may posibilidad po na magkaroon ng question sa safety ng ating mga motorista,&rdquo; Chua explained.&nbsp;(If you remember, this bridge was constructed in the 1980s. I can give you an example, is the quake in Taiwan. If we will not implement this [retrofitting] the safety of motorists here is at stake.)&nbsp;DPWH said the EDSA bus carousel lane will not be affected by the project because 1 and half of the 3 lane flyover will be the focus. The MMDA said available alternative routes for affected motorists include all Mabuhay lanes to ease heavy traffic congestion.&nbsp;&ldquo;Ang gagawin po natin diyan ay magkakaroon tayo ng rerouting, magagamit natin yung Mabuhay lanes at aayusin yung traffic flow. Will meet with the Quezon City LGU para ma-manage well yung traffic. Ida-divert lang po natin yung traffic. Kaunting inconvenience lang po dahil ito ay para naman sa safety ng ating mga motorista,&rdquo; &nbsp;Artes said.&nbsp;(We will implement (traffic) rerouting, we will use all the Mabuhay lanes and manage the traffic flow. We will meet with the Quezon City LGU to manage the traffic situation well. Traffic flow will be diverted. This will cause a bit of inconvenience but this is for the safety of motorists. )For the EDSA flyover going to Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, the MMDA said road works will start on Friday, April 5.Aside from these major road works, MMDA said there will also be 14 road reblocking in different parts of Metro Manila from April 5 to 10 or 11. Artes added that only DPWH projects will be allowed this time and private contractors will be prohibited at the moment.&ldquo;Yung decision namin na payagan 24/7 ang DPWH lang ay resulta nung nangyari noong nakaraan na yung proyekto ng pribadong sektor ay hindi natapos. Kailangan naming re-evaluate yung aming polisiya. Pinag-aaralan namin yung project owner ay isama sa ipe-penalized,&rdquo; he said.(The decision to allow DPWH to have a 24/7 road works is a result of what happened to the unfinished projects of private sector. We need to reevaluate our policy. Dina-draft na po yung notice of violation, i-out po namin yan latest tomorrow morning,&rdquo; Artes said.&nbsp;(We have already finished the assessment, the contractors need to pay P1.260 million.
