MANILA — An increasing number of Filipinos are opting to do their holiday shopping online, purchasing gifts and other essentials through e-commerce platforms as Christmas draws near.

“E-commerce has been growing in the past couple of years, actually a lot of people thought na after the pandemic, E-commerce will decline, but what we are seeing from the data is pataas pa rin siya, specially what we are really covering are package consumer goods, and even with package consumer goods, more and nore people are buying in E-commerce,” he said.

He also noted that while the majority of shoppers still buy from brick-and-mortar stores, there is a noticeable shift toward online shopping.

“Majority of the people are still buying sa mga brick and mortar offline stores. What we are seeing in the recent past is that, marami na rin na dati bumibili sila sa offline or brick and mortar stores, now they are shifting to online,” Pascual added.

The convenience of online shopping is a major factor behind this shift, with consumers able to purchase products with just a click on their smartphones.
