MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III gave instructions to Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya to address the problems encountered by travelers in airports and tollways during the Christmas rush.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the President was aware of the unpleasant experience of passengers of Cebu Pacific, who had to endure long queues because of delays, unmanned counters and overbooked flights. Lacierda said the President was not happy with what he saw.

"Yes, certainly, siyempre... I mean, it's a time to go home and be with your loved ones, ‘di ba? And certainly, kaya nga titingnan kung anong nangyari dito sa Cebu Pacific," said Lacierda.

On the problem with the tollways, a meeting was called for the Department of Transportation and Communications and the Toll Regulatory Board set on the first week of January next year.

"Magkakaroon ng meeting si DOTC Secretary Abaya at ang TRB because there are technological solutions to the problems that we saw in the NLEX [North Luzon Expressway] and SLEX [South Luzon Expressway]," said Lacierda.
