MANILA - A consumer group on Tuesday dismissed as bluff the warning of the Energy Regulatory Commission chief that the suspension of its top officials could lead to blackouts.
The executive can always appoint replacements for the suspended ERC commissioners, Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas representative Evelyn Jallorina told ANC.
"We consumers are being bluffed. Kung ang issue dun if there is a vacancy now then nakikita naming well its time dapat ngayon magpa-bid ng mga PSA," she said, referring to power supply agreements.
(If the issue there is a vacancy now, well it's time to bid out PSAs)
The newly installed ERC chief, Agnes Devanadera, had said that the suspension would set back deliberations for PSA applications.
Jallorina said the suspension would bolster her group's petition before the Supreme Court to stop the ERC from approving Meralco's power deals.
