MANILA (UPDATED) — AyalaLand has "not entered" into any discussions involving properties in Sagada, Mountain Province, its president said Monday.
"Ayala Land has not entered into discussions with any party regarding properties in Sagada," AyalaLand president and CEO Bobby Dy said in a statement.
Newspaper reports went viral over the weekend due to an alleged AyalaLand development in Sagada. Ayala and Sagada were also among the top trending topics on micro-blogging site Twitter early Monday.
Sagada Mayor James Pooten on Monday said it was "an informant" who told them that Ayala was interested in a Sagada lot.
"Nakausap ng informant natin sa mismong lugar 'yung broker tsaka 'yung lot owner na interesado ‘yung Ayala sa lote," Pooten told ABS-CBN News.
(Our informant was able to talk to the broker and the lot owner that Ayala is interested in the lot)
AyalaLand denied the claim of the local government official.
"We would like to inform the public that Ayala Land Inc has no plans for acquisition and development in the town of Sagada," the Ayala-led real estate firm said in a separate statement.
