NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Former America's Got Talent contender Dominic Dy is chasing her dream of becoming an artist here, known as the world's music capital.
The 16-year-old may have failed in the competition but is determined to make her dream come true.
“That’s what Nashville is about: it’s about connections. And I think that growing up here and performing here is one of the best decisions for somebody who wants to pursue music,” Dy told ABS CBN News.
Dy is only one of the estimated 9,000 Filipinos in Tennessee looking to make their dreams come true in this "warm and welcoming city," said Joy Matanguihan, president of the Filipino-American Association of Tennessee.
"People feel that when you’re different, you’ll be an outcast. Here, when you’re different, you’re an asset,” Matanguihan said.
